Our arboriculture services include tree pruning, line clearance, historic tree management, tree and stump removal, tree irrigation, planting programmes, hedge and shelterbelt maintenance and managing tree databases using electronic handheld equipment with GPS.

Trees, tree-lined streets and well-maintained parks and green spaces help to define the image of any city. They influence the culture, add value to neighbourhoods and help to build strong communities. Getting the maximum benefits and usage out of these assets through effective management and maintenance is essential.

Asplundh has the resources to carry out all aspects of tree asset management, from inner-city street tree pruning to highly complex removals and disposals. We have specialist equipment, proven work practices and a team of highly trained Arborists who ensure the best management of your tree assets.

Asplundh has been in the business of live power line clearance for over 90 years. We have been running our Australian line clearance operations since 1992, keeping lines across the country free of vegetation. With a fleet of Insulated Elevated Work Platforms (EWPs), specialised machinery and hydraulic insulated tools we provide a quality service, using the latest equipment and resources available supported by safe and effective work practices.

Our line clearance workers are highly trained, qualified, authorised and competent to work in the close approach zones associated with power line clearance. We have tried and tested working procedures in place for dealing with every eventuality; including shut downs. As well as day-to-day power line clearance work, our team specialise in recovery work associated with getting the power back on after storms; clearing debris and repairing damage. Asplundh is the approved contractor for several of Australia’s leading power and utility companies.

Asplundh has been servicing rail lines in many areas of Australia. One of our very satisfied customers is Sydney Trains as Asplundh has proven experience in mobilising resources and staff to help keep our public transport network flowing.

Severe weather events such as storms, cyclones and floods are commonplace in many areas of Australia. Asplundh has proven experience in mobilising resources and staff to clean up and conduct repairs and unplanned maintenance work after these events.

Asplundh are world leaders in providing innovative vegetation management solutions to the global utility industry. Asplundh believe that both local knowledge and global expertise should be harnessed to provide innovation for local industry. We see ourselves as both an innovation partner and an innovation developer, working with our clients to design and implement technology and machinery across its operations. Asplundh has access to the resources and innovation of the world’s largest vegetation management organisation operating on a global basis and in every state of the US. Accordingly, we have access to a plethora of innovative machinery, vehicles and accessories, tested under every extreme condition and developed to be as cost-efficient as possible.

We have numerous specialty expertise, software and vehicles including aerial cutting, line flying and 3D vegetation modelling and analysis to name a few. Moreover, over 90 years of testing has ensured even our basic EWPs are incredibly productive, safe and fuel-efficient, and as we make them ourselves we can, and do, continually improve their design. Asplundh believes in the value of cross-industry innovation and cultural innovation, often looking externally for business solutions with vegetation management application.

For instance, we believe that innovations from the area of Quality Control should be examined and accordingly we are researching the application of six-sigma methodology in efficient vegetation management Asplundh has now developed integrated management systems with real-time communication mechanisms including GPS and tracking to ensure all vehicles are accounted for and all chip piles identified and monitored, more importantly, our information on our actions and vegetation clearances is instantly accessible through an online portal available to our clients.

We have recently tested a new Vegetation Data Management system incorporating a central database and real-time input from external sources including PDA, VMC and airborne inputs. We have developed and perfected tablet scoping enabling instant access to customer databases and requirements and the ability to access our vegetation database to update existing information. As all of our work is GPS based our ability to quickly audit is second to none.

Asplundh have also implemented the use of vehicle ‘black boxes’ allowing unprecedented access and fine-tuning to our vehicles, crews and schedules. We can instantly know start times, end times, boom movements, idling time etc. More importantly we can and do use this to manage our emissions and deliver a more environmentally sustainable vegetation management solution.

To manage many of these innovations, Asplundh has developed a dashboard system enabling us to manage on a daily and weekly basis our adherence to our clients’ contract requirements, our reduction in emissions, our improvements in production efficiency and our financial strength.
